Coca-Cola to produce Olympic Lapel Pins from “Bird’s Nest” Steel |
|
The Coca Cola company announced that they will be developing Olympic lapel pins with the official pin licensee in China, using the same steel that was used for the construction of the famous Beijing National ("birds nest") stadium.
At the beginning of the year, during a visit of a Chinese delegation to the Coca Cola Company, the team responsable for building the Beijing National Stadium, now famous for its "bird nest" weaving steel structure, presented a 500kg batch of the same steel used for the stadium's construction. A section of the steel will remain at the Coca Cola Company headquarters in Atlanta as a memento of the Beijing 2008 Olympics, and the remaining steel will be shipped to the official lapel pin licensee to manufacture pins using this unique material.
"By using leftover steel from the Bird’s Nest construction in the manufacture of Coca-Cola pins, we are bringing people closer to the Olympic Games experience, and supporting the pursuit of a "Green Olympics," said David Brooks, Vice-President and General Manager of the Coca-Cola Olympic Project Group. "It was an honour to host our guests in Atlanta and receive this beautiful memento of our involvement with the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games." |
